declaring he would be going on a solo tour of the world, South Korean megastar Suga shocked fans all over the world. The rapper, producer, and songwriter from BTS will be the first to do this.
The tour's North American leg, which includes stops in Belmont, Newark, Rosemont, Los Angeles, and Oakland, will kick off on April 26th, according to a poster shared across the band's social media networks. After that, there are performances throughout Asia with dates in Jakarta, Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, and Japan.
The tour's dates are the only information available at this time, but the ad claims that fans will finally get to witness Suga play live as his fiery alter ego Agust D.
With his 2016 self-titled mixtape debut as Agust D, Suga shocked the world by writing songs about his struggles with depression, anxiety, success, failure, and poverty. At the time, not many K-pop stars were willing to bare their souls at such a level.
Along with Agust D's second mixtape D-2, which was released in 2020, and its mega-hit lead track "Daechwita," the album has since received critical acclaim. Typically, Suga does not perform as Agust D while BTS is on tour; the rapper has only done so twice live: first in 2016 and again in 2021 at the group's Musters, its yearly fan club events.
The rapper has collaborated with numerous other artists under the name Suga, producing, writing, and/or featuring on albums by Halsey, Epik High, Juice Wrld, Psy, IU, and others. He has also released solo songs via BTS albums. He also created a fresh rendition of "Over The Horizon," the ringtone that has become synonymous with Samsung, in 2021.
After BTS announced they would be taking a break as a group, some of the members started releasing solo music. Jin released his first album, Jack in the Box, J-Hope released his first single, "The Astronaut", and Jungkook released his first single, "Dreamers". RM released his first album, Indigo, and Suga is still working on his first album.
Suga has been busy working on new projects including a tour and new music. He also has a new talk show on YouTube called "Suchwita" which will feature conversations with different artists. Suga has been announced as the brand ambassador for Valentino and will be the face of the Maison Valentino Essentials campaign in January 2023.
